DIY Upholstered Headboards

I LOVE a gorgeous upholsted headboard...

But, they can come with a very large price tag. Especially for custom. If you are loving the look too but may not have the deep pockets for one, I've compiled a list of 5 of my favorite DIY versions for you. If you have the time and tools, it could save you a lot of money while still achieving the look of a beautiful designer bedroom.
Censational girl shows us how to use a nailhead trim kit to make your life easier! Fabulous! This means that you only have to hammer every 5 nails or so, which would be a HUGE time saver. I'm all about simplifying. As a side note, I love that Barbara Barry Poetical fabric on her European Shams and Duvet.
Loving this gorgeous button tufted, nailhead wingback upholstered headboard. Stunning! {DIY Source}
The Hunted Interior Tutorial is a very unique and custom look.
Curve corner with nailhead headboard Just the fabric alone can totally change the entire look of each of these tutorials. If you are wanting just a classic square edge, just omit the step of cutting out the curve.

What do you think? Would you consider making one for your home?

I'm off to go plan a delicious meal for my husband to help me break the news of a new project. Wish me luck! I'll post pictures when we are done. Send me your pictures if you have or are now inspired to tackle this project, too!

2012 Northern Wasatch Parade of Homes Part 2

My highlights from the parade continued :)

Del Mar by Henry Walker
As far as paint colors, we are still seeing a lot of cool tones like blues and greens as a hot trend with pops of bold colors like in these beautiful accent pillows.
Classic white kitchen. A detail I loved was the ceiling. It appears to be a wood planked ceiling but is actually wallpaper! I'm not sure if it translates in the picture, but it really brought a lot of character to the space.
I enjoyed the architecture of this beautiful mantle.
From the honey comb tile to the darling wall paper, I love the little details of this laundry room.

Traditional Tivoli by Ivory Homes
I really need to find an excuse to use some of these gorgeous spindle chairs... Ivory always does a great job in my opinion. I loved the details in this home.
I love the mixing of vintage glassware, plates, linens on this pretty table scape.
How incredibly gorgeous is that Moroccan tile inspired backsplash?! Love it!
I'm dying over this rich shade of blue velvet in this upholstered headboard. Always love the Chiang Mai Dragon fabric they used on the llinens as well.
Warm master bath with elegant wallpaper.
What a darling gender neutral nursery - that wallpaper and chandelier are to die for.
Sweet little bedroom. It's all in the details with the gorgeous linens.
Example of tangerine tango (Pantone color of the year) done thoughtful and so well. The wallpaper in this home was done very tastefully I thought.
A smart idea for a guest room is to include a little desk area. Loving this beautiful Chinese Chippendale chair that we are seeing a lot of lately.

Bachester by Brighton
Leather sofas done right.
Pretty pendant lights and backsplash.
The grasscloth wallpaper ceiling is a beautiful touch - it brings your eye up to the tall ceilings. I need to do this in my next home! Maybe in a gray or soft green/blue hue...
Darling bedroom.
I loved the architectural details in this room! What a fun molding and shelf for a childs room.

Fairfield Model by Candlelight
If you are hesitant on mixing different furniture pieces in one room, consider trying it in your dining area. These linen nailhead chairs are a beautiful contrast to the wood.
Warm, contemporary kitchen.
Detail of backsplash...
In love with these night stands!

Henry Walker in Mountain Green
The tone on tone stripes flanking the mantle is beautiful.
Bright and fun breakfast area.
Pretty master. I really enjoy all the mixing of woods for a more collected and thoughtful look.
Sweet girls room with pinks and blues. DIY idea: paint an old dresser, cover a drawer with fabric and add stenciling for an expensive vintage look.
 Fun nautical inspired boys room.
Fun pattern in the rug and there is that spindle style love seat again that I am loving at the moment.

Mountain Ledges by RW Custom
Mountain home with a view!
Warm kitchen, love those glass pendants.

I would not mind having this view outside my deck!

Tuscan Creek by RW Custom
Love the custom cabinentry...
Sweet little girls room.

That concludes your personal tour from me :) Hope you enjoyed and are inspired. I'd love to know your favorite!
